Town of Fairfield Landfill Solar Array

On the Town of Fairfield’s former landfill adjacent to Old Dam Road, a massive 1.3 megawatt solar power array – comprising more than 4,000 individual solar panels – is set to deliver 1.7 million kilowatt hours per year of clean, renewable energy to the Town’s wastewater treatment plant, providing about 25% of the plant’s energy requirements. Representing a “green” use of a degraded landscape, the solar array is one of the most dramatic illustrations of Fairfield’s long-term commitment to clean energy and a more environmentally sustainable future.
