The Star 8 SolarTuk is a 100% solar powered vehicle developed for the market.
Being a lightweight vehicle, regular solar panels were unsuitable for a Tuk Tuk and an innovative solution was required. The Star 8 SolarTuk is a powerful demonstration of combining creative thought with new highly efficient, lightweight solar technology.
Available in four different designs with three engine capacities (650cc, 800cc and 1000cc), the Star 8 SolarTuk has a size to suit all purposes.
The Star 8 SolarTuk will be available with a single, lightweight, mono-crystalline flexible panel roof generating a half kilowatt capacity, an 800 watt double roof (where a second roof slides out from above the fixed roof), a one kilowatt double roof and a one kilowatt double roof with additional solar generating side and rear flaps.
Using American high efficiency cells, each Star 8 SolarTuk will contain a twin battery charging system enabling one to be charging as the other one is powering the electric motor.
With a top speed of 50 kilometres per hour, the Star 8 SolarTuk will be able to cover up to 120 kilometres before requiring a recharge, which can be achieved via the sun or a conventional power point.
The continual charging process enables the SolarTuk to not only provide a cheap form of transport but also to act as an off grid power source for many third world families who currently have no access to electrical energy.Lightweight, flexible solar panels for your transport.
