Standalone hybrid system at Fandema – Tujereng (Gambia)

The electrical system at Fandema Center, in Tujereng (The Gambia), is a Hybrid Standalone Electric System, using Off-grid and Grid-tie technology. The generation is done by PV Solar, Wind and Fuel Generator power.

Main objectives of the new facility are:

– Ensure the power supply 24 hours per day to the basic services of the Center;
– Carry out workshops such as sawing, Information Technology, and other activities that require electricity;
– Avoid the use of the fuel generator; therefore achieve financial savings by reducing fuel consumption and maintenance expenditures;
– Improving the efficiency of some appliances;
– Streamlining and automation of consumption;
– Training of technical staff for correct maintenance of the new system;
– Training of end users for correct use of the new system;
– Ensure proper use and maintenance of the system in the long-term;

Thanks to the solar and wind power inputs it will be possible to use the electrical equipment of Fandema Center according to the estimated energy demand. The fuel generator will only be necessary in case of emergency.
The access to electricity, using Renewable Energy Sources, will allow the beneficiaries of Fandema Center to carry out their training activities.
