UN executive Christiana Figueres, of the UN Framework convention on climate change says China is building the future of energy.
Why? Because culturally, China teaches its children the value of long term planning.
Long term thinking is common in China in health care, education, buildings, medicine, law and poetry.
Long term planning has made China the #1 leader in energy development to solve the climate change emergency.
Long term strategies like a solar feed in tariff payment policy that requires the Utilities to pay home owners $0.50 kwh is producing remarkable results for China, Germany, Australia, Denmark and 69 nations around the world.
This shift has left California and the US in the dust bin of history.
The US is now becoming one of the poorest nations on earth, both in energy and educations, because the US is hobbled by the secret group, ALEC, (Am Legislative Exchange Council ), which is the worlds 10 largest oil corporations.
ALEC just wrecked the state of Arizona by passing a law taxing anyone with solar panels, making it uneconomical to put up solar panels.
ALEC’s goal is to ban the solar feed in tariff in the US.
ALEC’s other main goal is to help Shell Oil pass the CCA, (Community Choice Aggregation ) “Clean Power SF” scam, to give Shell Oil a $1 billion from SF tax payers.
UN rep. Christiana Figueres said China’s standards for solar buildings, the Feed in Tariff policy, electric cars & buses, have helped the world cut the cost of mass production of the cost of solar panels by 80% since 2008.
China is now #1 in solar power production.
I challenge this claim that China is #1. It is my impression that Germany has a higher % production of solar energy than China. In 2014, Germany will produce 50% of its energy from solar during the month of May.
Can China match that?
There is no doubt China is building the future of solar energy, simply because it is making more high quality solar panels than anyone else.
The advantage China has, is that it has a unified central committee of some 999 people representing all regions of China. They are all appointed, and so do not have to run for election. They are similar to the 99 people who are members of the secret ALEC group in the US.
They are not restricted by Legislative rules the way state governments are hamstrung by corporate control. The California Legislature can not respond the the drought emergency now destroying California.
Because the oil companies control the Legislature, nothing positive can be done.
China has a serious urge to combat the environmental emergency using their tradition of long term planning.
The next meeting of the UN Committee on the environmental emergency will be in Lima, Peru in Dec. 2014. After that, Paris Dec. 2015.
Such world meetings are useless, as they produce no local actions, like a feed in tariff in each city, which actually solves the crisis.
Figueres said she believes new advance in solar policy developments, like the solar feed in tariffs being adopted & passed in each city, worldwide, are the best hope we have to reach our goal of 40% solar and renewables by 2020.
Figueres also said she believes no solar technologies that will develop in the next 2 years are the best hope we have.
Trading carbon credits, as is being done in Mexico, Costa Rica, China, the US & many other nations is the most useless policy we can adopt.
Boiling water. Chile is building a $1 billion solar THERMAL water heater.
Such an investment will fail, because it is a centralized energy plant.
Solar water heaters, due to the economy of scale, are 10X more efficient, if built on each home or building.
It is a silly waste of money to build a huge solar water heater to boil water, make electricity and then transmit the energy over the grid.
The loss of energy is so great over the grid, that investors ALWAYS lose money.
