CDR KING Solar Panels

In this video I take a look at the 50 watt and 80 watt solar panels from CDR-KING. I’ve been checking my local stores, calling and emailing for about 6 months and then finally one of my local stores had stock. So I rushed there the same day and bought the panels.

The output power from the panels is well within spec and in some cases, above spec. I tested them under near perfect conditions. I tested them on a bright sunny day in Metro Manila, with just a few groups of clouds in the sky. Pretty much an average day in summer time Philippines.

The most accurate way to measure a solar panel is to connect a load, for example a high wattage 12v bulb and then use two multimeters to measure the volts and amps while the bulb is being lit.

The aluminium frame feels pretty heavy and sturdy but it’s not as strong and well built as my panels from Japan. I accidentally bashed one of the panels against a wall and the aluminium corner seam parted a little. Even so, they’re more than suitable for the task and provide a good solid mounting option.

I can’t comment on the lifetime of the cdrking solar panels or the cells but I don’t foresee any major issues.

I also give a quick look at the charge controller from cdr king which I’ll probably do a separate video on in the future.
