This is my own design, a picture diary of the basic construction of a truly Portable Power work Station. If you are out in the Boonies and need power to build then this is it! I built this on a dolly so that it is easy for one person to move. Remember to add a lager steel plate to the bottom of the dolly as the standard ones come with a very small plate. To do this just lay your new larger plate on top and drill ten holes through both plates and bolt them together, ( used hard wood for the wood frame and put the bolts right through all three). Remember to only buy a dolly that has solid rubber wheels for heavy loads about $60.00 . I put 2, 6 volt deep cycle batteries, 226 amp hours each wired in series to make 12volts. I would not put any more than that otherwise it becomes too heavy to move about easily. The solar panel is 100 watts and produces over 7 amps so make sure you buy a 20 amp charge controller just to be on the safe side and fuse the positive lines, I used 10 amp fuses but some people use 20 amp. Fuse between every device, Solar panel, charge controller and battery to inverter. There are many power levels for inverters, I choose the 1500 watt as it is the same as one house line and can power anything in a work shop. There are 2 kinds of inverters, modified sine wave, which is fine for most things like motors, drills, table saws, washing machines, but not for things that have compressors, like fridges, freezers, or plasma T.V. For those make sure you buy a pure sine wave inverter, as it will make smoother A.C. This unit can be turned to follow the sun and gives you freedom to live anywhere. Remember to put some cushioning between the back of the solar panel plywood frame and the Vertical box so that if it falls shut by accident it does not slam shut and perhaps crack the solar panel.
