People often think that they can save money by cutting the cord and disconnecting from the electric grid. Off-grid solar will only save you money if connecting to the grid is too expensive to begin with. If you are already connected tot he grid, the best way to save money is to use less power, install a grid tie solar system, and buy less power from the grid.
Fitting your motorhome, RV or campervan with a solar panel is super easy. We’ll show you each step of the installation process with our fitting guide, so you’ll be running on eco-friendly electricity in no time!
Brought to you by the BeamLED.com team, our video demonstrates how to fit a motorhome solar panel with one of our very own DIY Solar KIts, which can be found here – http://www.beamled.com/12v-solar-1/12v-solar-pv-kits/caravan-and-motorhome-solar-kits.html
Here’s our instructions on how to install a solar panel onto the roof of your motorhome or caravan:
STEP 1 – Clean the roof of the motorhome and apply an adhesive bonding agent.
STEP 2 – Apply the same agent to the solar panel, followed by an adhesive like Sikaflex 552. You can also add some optional padding to create spacing between the panel and the RV’s roof.
STEP 3 – Carefully mount the panel onto the roof of your motorhome.
STEP 4 – Wait for the adhesive to dry (usually 24 hours).
STEP 5 – Now connect the panel to your battery – see video here – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H8eyRbWa4yM&index=4&list=PLZeYsS8FZh04JjZsYV1cfnC1-ewD6V0I4
We hope you have found our motorhome solar panel fitting guide useful.
Happy camping!
