In this video, I go over a little prep work required for my solar panel. I plan to make it approx 12V @ 3.5A. I’ll also build an identical one, but I’m not sure if ill have enough solar cells left over for the second panel yet.
Hopefully I have overcome the hardest part in building the panel, which is finding the box, or casing in which the cells sit in.
The item I am cutting is Plastic indoor/outdoor shelving which is white, hard, and heat resistant. It will not bend and it will provide ample protection for the cells as I plan on making this panel portable. The soldering iron I am using is a 100W/140W Weller model 8200 with a cutting tip.
This is the first of a series of installments on my DIY solar panel project. These panels will not be used for putting on top of a house, but to power small electronics and other small devices… the applications of which will be demonstrated in future videos.
The cells I am using are from MLSOLAR, and are .55V @ 3.65A a piece.
