Toy review & unboxing of the Solar Bullet Train, a look at broken Power Trains couplers and a sad Thomas The Tank toy story. This HO Solar Bullet Train is a curious cheap toy. Be careful if your purchasing this do it yourself toy train as the prices can vary between $5 to over $20, I have even seen prices online up near $40. This simple educational toy is easy to build and works surprisingly well. The wheel gauge is HO/OO, but I will show it working on Power Trains track and Thomas And Friends Trackmaster track which has a HO/OO gauge on the inside plastic guide. This toy has detailed instructions which help you make a simple gear box, the solar panel and electric motor are already connected and ready to work. This solar toy train is something I have seen for a long time, I was curious to see what my $10 bought me. Once built it’s a great little educational toy which does not need batteries to run. All it needs is a good sunny day or some very powerful lights. Perfect for a solar energy school project.
At home I have had some Power Trains being played with, but one problem seems to be the coupling system. My son will bring to me broken plastic couplers but I do not see what he did to break them. Power Trains is a great in-between toy train for children looking for interesting train details without the care and expense needed with an Bachmann or Hornby electric HO/OO toy train system.
I’m a keen collector of Thomas The Tank toys, especially the character Thomas The Tank. A very good friend of mine collected a Thomas Tank Take Along / Take N Play storage case made by Learning Curve. This toy was in a charity shop where a small boy wanted to take Thomas home. But the boys father stopped his son from taking the toy indicating it was a broken toy. This left the toy to be collected by my friend who then delivered it to me. I have had a good looking over this Thomas toy and there is only a few small pieces of plastic broken away, overall the toy is in pretty good shape considering it’s age. Hearing this story had me thinking how picky some people can be. Here was an amazing looking Thomas The Tank toy which any child would love to own, yet it was deemed broken. These sorts of stories are very sad to hear. This Thomas toy would have brought the small boy so much fun. But don’t worry this Thomas toy case is now part of my collection. I think this is the third one of this style of Thomas The Tank.
