We are horrifically dependent on electricity over the years. The amount of energy and money wasted on streetlights electricity are exorbitant. While it is good for busy roads, we have to also acknowledge the impacts it does to us holistically, not to mention the less busy roads. A sustainable energy solution is highly in need so that we can help progress more in building the future. Street Sense is a smart device that controls the brightness of streetlights. It has a sensor feature which detects any upcoming traffic and living movements on the road. Street Sense functions in:
1. Automatically adjusts the brightness of streetlights when the sensor detects vehicle motion and living movements, from its dim condition to its brightest condition.
2. Able to differentiate and inform road users of traffic situations, such as moderate/heavy traffic and accidents, by emitting different LED light colour to serve the said purposes.
3. Monitor the device using an application. Serves as a part of maintenance and data collection.
Street Sense will be powered by built-in solar panels, which will store energy from sunlight during the day, and helps the device to operate on its own. This device is still in it’s alpha phase, all images are of artist rendition. Follow up for the latest news of the device.
