Now that the solar RV porch is working again and the sun shines from time to time, it is easier to heat the RV.
The passive solar RV heating porch also helps insulate the whole side of the RV from the cold weather. It helps keep the wind from blowing inside the RV when I open up the front door as well.
I got my wood drying out and am splitting it each day as needed. This is easy enough to do. Each morning I gather up twigs and branches to use as kindling and start up my morning fire. Yesterday the fire actually started from the coals of the last night’s fire.
I can get it up to 70 or 80 degrees inside the RV when it is in the teens outside. This is such a huge difference from a few days ago when I was freezing so badly.
I found a package on the porch of my landlady’s house. It has been there since I left for Australia. Goliath Mann sent this to me, hoping I would get it before Christmas. It just missed me by a couple days. But I am very happy to have received it now.
Goliath Mann sent me the plumbing needed to fix up my IBC tank. Now I can hook it up directly to the RV for example, or to a shower. He also sent some very nice LED light strips which will help brighten up the RV nicely.
This is such perfect timing too because during my stay in Australia I was looking at newer RVs and they are almost all decked out with solar panels and LED lighting. But the big difference is that they are very nice and bright inside. High quality LED lighting makes all the difference and makes the RV look very warm and inviting rather than like a dungeon.
An interesting thing is happening to my RV and passive solar heating porch. They are aligning themselves back up with one another. As I use my wood stove, it heats up the ground underneath and the porch and RV are now nearly perfectly aligned with one another again. I can open and close the RV door with ease again. It barely rubs now. I expect it to be perfect in another day or so at this rate. And I did nothing yet to fix it. I am happy I did not.
There is a spring out at the back end of the meadow where I am staying. I will move the RV back to that area later this year and try to find the head of the spring. I would like to tap the spring and have a nice source of fresh drinking water.
