This video shows the automated soldering stringer making strings of polycrystalline solar cells (laser-cut pieces of polycrystalline solar cells) for 20W Photonic Universe polycrystalline solar panels.
Use of the automated stringer helps Photonic Universe eliminate potential soldering risks such as dry joints and other similar problems which often accompany manual soldering processes.
I have reviewed a lot of Power Banks over the last few years – and my favorites are the ones with integrated solar panels. The NovaBank by GigaWatt provides 6000mAh of power capacity which is ideal for charging smartphones and occasional power to a tablet.
Notes
- The max input from the monocrystalline solar panel is 5V at 250mA … so the sun is best used to help maintain the power level while using it in the summer. However, when you are not in the sun you can charge the NovaBank from a computer USB port (which will take 15 hours), or a 5V 1A travel adapter (which will take about 8 hours)
- It can be charged even on a cloudy day, but it will not charge under a normal household light
- The NovaBank has one 5V 1A output which can charge smarphones to tablets
- Comes in either white or black.
- Comes with 2 charging tips – a 30 pin tip for Apple products and a micro-USB tip for charging the power bank or other devices.
- Provides 6000mAh of capacity – which is enough to charge and iPhone 2-3 times and provide about a 75% charge to an iPad 2
- Does not come with a carrying case

Final verdict – While business travelers may prefer smaller non-solar options in their powerbanks it is easy to see why people who like the outdoors would choose the NovaBank 6000mAh power bank. Just remember that even in full sunlight it will charge the powerbank at about 1/3rd the speed of a 5V 1A power source.
