Jeff Spies is a leader in the Solar Sales sector of the Renewable Energy industry. He has held leadership positions in the past including Director of Training & Tradeshows for AEE Solar, one of the oldest and largest distributors for solar PV in the world.
Jeff earned his degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1987 from Michigan State University and then embarked upon a 20 year career in technical sales and marketing of electro-mechanical motion control systems for industrial automation. Specializing in training and education, Jeff traveled throughout the US and abroad conducting technical training seminars for thousands of engineers, technicians, and business managers.
After 20 years in the industrial automation field, he decided to move into renewable energy to help make a positive contribution to our energy future. In 2007, after completing the beginner and advanced PV training through Solar Energy International, Jeff joined AEE Solar to develop training programs for new and existing dealers.
Jeff has traveled extensively since joining AEE Solar, training thousands of existing and new solar pv dealers. He organized the first and second annual AEE Solar dealer conferences which were ranked among the biggest and best training events in the industry and help established AEE Solar as one of the leaders in solar training in North America. His Launch & Grow Your Solar Business training program is widely considered one of the best entry level training programs in the industry. AEE Solars training webpage has been the number one ranked solar training hit on Google for over 2 years, and the AEE Solar training program is regarded as the most comprehensive in the industry.
In July of 2009 Jeff was appointed to serve as a NABCEP board member and shortly thereafter selected as the Secretary for NABCEP.
As a founding partner of RE100, Swiss Re is committed to becoming 100% powered by renewable electricity by 2020 – a lot of it coming from the company’s own energy production. Already today over 84% of the power Swiss Re consumes comes from renewable sources. Photovoltaic installations are not only environmentally friendly, they are also becoming economically viable. We have solar energy facilities (50-100kW) at the rooftops at Swiss Re offices in Switzerland, Italy and the UK. In 2017 we opened our largest solar project so far – a 2MW solar power plant at Swiss Re Americas’ headquarters in Armonk, NY. Read more at http://www.swissre.com/rethinking/solar_power.html
