This is a video of one of our projects taken more than 14 months after the sytem was installed. The Purpose of this video is not only to show the working of a Grid connected or Grid tied Solar power system but also to review its performance over the course of one year.
This is a 2.8 KW (or 2.8 KW peak) Grid connected Rooftop Solar power System. The system was commissioned on 1 October 2015 and this video was made on 11 December 2016.
The system is interfaced with the power utility grid. Here, Solar PV system takes the first priority to run the loads. The excess power, if generated will be exported to the power grid. In case of deficit of solar power, the differential power is drawn from the power grid. In this system, a bi-directional meter is installed to measure the net energy (Net metering).
The sytem has performed reasonably well. System has generated 5,080 Units of energy in 437 days. That means it has generated 5,080/437 = 11.62 units per day on an average.
Since it is a 2.8 KW system, the Specific yield is 11.62/2.8 = 4.15 Units per KW per day.
As explained in the video, for a typical grid connected sytem, Power utility grid has to be present for working of the system. This system has not produced any energy whenever there was grid failure or when the grid voltage was less than 190 V or more than 260 V.
