I am experimenting with a solar powered freezer outside my tiny house on wheels. I have a deer that I took in for processing which is now in the freezer.
It was a full sunny day so I put the freezer that I bought last year out in the new shed that I am building. I put it up on blocks and put a pallet under it to keep it off the ground.
I ran an extension cord from the tiny house to the freezer and it powered up and ran, fully on the power of the sun.
Next I worked a bit on the shed walls. I am trying to finish the sheathing on the outside of my solar batter shed in between hunting and other things.
It is taking me a long time though because I have to dig out each piece of wood from the barn wood pile. Each piece of wood takes about an hour to dig out and prepare by removing all the nails.
But it is free wood and I do not have the money to buy new wood so I am using what I have on hand.
The first wall I finished is right by the freezer so that I can keep the afternoon sun off it and allow it to run efficiently.
I got a deer in the morning but you have seen that video already. I am processing this deer fully myself. This one will be made into jerky. Some will be put away for long term storage and some will be used as fresh jerky. Some will be frozen. Some will be made into pemmican for long term storage as well.
I managed to get a bit of work done on the shed while processing the deer and working on the freezer.
Later, after the sun went down, I fired up the little HF generator just to make sure the freezer runs long enough to fully freeze the meat. I do not want to take a risk with this deer meat.
