John Berdner, General Manager of SolarEdge North America explains the benefits of the SolarEdge system and the next generation power optimizer, winner of the 2012 prestigious Intersolar Award for Innovation available in North America beginning of 2013. Unlike other power optimizers on the market, the new SolarEdge power optimizer, featuring the new IndOP™ technology, can be installed without the need for additional interface hardware and can operate directly with any inverter.
Messing around on the beach with small solar panels and no charge controllers. Dropping the voltage down to 5V for USB gadgets.
In this video I test a 10W semi-flexible solar panel from Spectra which is primarily designed to be mounted to the curved bow of a boat. I also test an 11W fold-up panel from Portapow with built in USB ports.
The Portapow solar panels are using more modern cells and aren’t as picky about being angled towards the sun.
Not a terribly detailed video but this is the kind of solar experiment I enjoy doing.
I had hoped to use my USB dummy load and watt meter to measure the maximum output of each panel but ran into some technical issues.
