Today we are testing the PowerFilm 30 Watt Foldable Solar Panel with the Yaesu 817ND QRP 5 Watt Ham Radio from New Smyrna Beach, Florida.
Some times the best laid plans by man fail like they did today. As you will see in the video being that we shoot live my LDG-Z-817 Auto tuner that I use all the time with this radio fail to operator correctly for the first time ever.
Update: June 24,2015- I found when I got home I had in correctly put the batteries in wrong when I had changed them and that was the problem and allis well now.
As luck would have it I was blessed to have been working with the Alpha EZ Military Antenna which just happens to be tuned so that you can use it without a tuner with decent results.
The Alpha EZ Military Antenna worked just as the company said it would without a tuner. I had not tested the antenna this way before until today when my tuner failed to work.
The Duracell Ultra 35Ah AGM battery provided stored power for the day.
God is good and the video shoot was saved thanks to a great product from alpha antennas.
The PowerFilm foldable solar panel worked great without any problems. And the takedown of the solar panel was quick and easy to put away. We will continue to keep testing the PowerFilm solar panel in upcoming videos.
