Warning: Do not replicate the sequences in this video. The metal spinning blade can cause serious injury.
Here’s an idea for an automatic ceiling fan using a small dc motor and a 5 v, 500ma solar panel. Mount the solar panel to a sunny spot and wire it to your fan. This makes a nice slow turning ceiling fan. The fan blade can be made of any materials as long as it’s not too heavy for the motor. When the sun shines, the fan will come on. Stops when you no longer have the sun. No batteries needed if run this way. Great for the new “green building” where lights go on or off according to the intensity of the sun outside. For extra cooling at night, you can add batteries. Even though it is a low rpm unit, be careful when you experiment, especially if you use metal blades. Mount everything securely.

Another Solar PV system by Atlantic Renewables. CALL 0161 207 4044 or go to http://www.atlanticrenewables.co.uk for more information.
This system uses 16 x 250W Canadian solar mono panels. The system is an East West split, with 10 panels on the front (West) and 6 panels on the rear (east). The system is split using an aurora power One 3.6TL Inverter.
Because the system is an East West split it was important to use an inverter that allows both arrays to be independent of each other. The inverter allowed for this with its dual tracker input set up. In the morning the East elevation would be able to operate to its maximum efficiency whilst the West was at it lowest.
