Our family decided to leave the city’s rat race and go “Down The Dirt Road” on a journey of self sufficiency and simplicity. We purchased 20 raw acres. We must figure out how to setup an OFF GRID homestead in a way that will enable us to “Thrive not Survive” in the mountains of North Idaho. Our goals (no particular order):
1) Observe our land so that we can apply a PERMACULTURE design
2) Install Earthworks ( swales / keylines) to control our water flow
3) Develop our WATER SPRING and verify if we can use a RAM PUMP to pump our water
5) Setup WATER STORAGE, and an ENERGY system ( Solar Panels and possibly Hydroelectric & Wind Power)
6) Install a Permaculture homestead (Back To Eden , Hugelkultur , Chickens , Goats , Vermiculture , Compost , etc.)
7) Design and build a PASSIVE SOLAR home
8) Apply DO IT YOURSELF ( DIY ) attitude to this journey!!!
